In the fall of 2015, our journey with “Fannie” began when our foundation bitch, GCH Sunndland’s Ladybird, “Hattie,” delivered a remarkable litter of eight puppies sired by GCHB Wyndlair Point Given, “Xander.” This pivotal litter produced two of our brightest stars: MBISS MG1 GCHS Maverick Fanfare, ROM, CCA Select Bitch 2019, Westminster Best of Variety 2021—”Fannie,” and BISS GCH Maverick Painted Lady ROM, CCA Best of Variety 2018, CCA Award of Merit 2019—”Violette.”

Fannie, a compact bitch like her dam, stood out for her great bone, substance, and impeccable soundness. She boasted a smooth, balanced side gait, solid structure, and a sweet, expressive face with a beautifully round muzzle. Her lightness of head, short hocks, and infectious, showy attitude made her a standout both in the ring and at home.

Fannie’s journey began in the whelping box, producing two litters before making her show debut at three years old. Her entrance into the ring was nothing short of spectacular—she finished undefeated in her first weekend with three owner-handled five-point Specialty majors under respected judges John Buddie, Nancy Anstruther, and Nioma Coen. After another break for the whelping box, Fannie returned as a special, expertly guided by Nick Joines and Joel McCarty.

Her show career was extraordinary. In 2019, she earned the prestigious title of Select Bitch at the CCA National, along with multiple group placements, All-Breed Best of Variety wins, and numerous Specialty Best of Breed victories along the east coast. During the pandemic, Fannie paused to welcome her fourth litter, but her return to the show ring in 2021 was triumphant—she thrilled us all with a Best of Variety win at the Westminster Kennel Club show, cementing her place among the top rough Collies on the Hawkins List, a true testament to her excellence and enduring legacy.
